ZeeGee Setup - Set up the Dock
ZeeGee Setup
& Operation
Yes.
You can mount the ZeeGee directly on any light stand, 5/8" baby pin. The Dock is not required but highly recommended.
We also offer a Mitchell mount adapter to connect to legacy stationary and moving platforms such as tripods, camera dollies and jib arms that have a standard Mitchell mount.
The ZeeGee can be mounted on:
Any stand with baby 5/8” pin
The Cinema Devices Mitchell mount adapter
Cinema Devices' Undersling Grip Configuration
“J” Bracket, etc.
See the Hard-Mounted Options video:
In order to minimize camera shake you have to completely isolate the motion of the Steadicam arm from affecting the camera by, on the ZeeGee, releasing the tilt and cradle roll plunger as well as completely removing the tilt brake and pan brake at the base. The blue tilt drag knob should also be turned fully counter clockwise so that all three axis on the ZeeGee are as low friction as possible.
A little bottom heavy on the gray center of gravity knobs is recommended.
Your arm spring tension should provide enough lift to support the camera height where you would like it to be without having to lift or push down on the ZeeGee handles. If you have a neutral “ride” cam on your arm it is also advisable to add that.
Once the camera is balanced and the ZeeGee low friction, another recommended technique is to guide the ZeeGee with a looser grip. (Do not not “death grip” the handles.)
Try these suggestions, and let us know if you need any more assistance.
